Mr. Queen

Jang Bong-hwan is a confident modern-day chef whose life takes an impossible turn when he wakes up centuries in the past, inside the body of Kim So-yong, a young woman about to become queen of Joseon. Trapped in an unfamiliar era, and an even more unfamiliar body, he has only one goal: figure out how to get back home. Surviving palace life, however, means dealing with strict traditions, dangerous political rivalries, and King Cheoljong, a seemingly mild ruler who may be hiding more than anyone realizes. Armed with modern knowledge, a rebellious personality, and absolutely none of the behavior expected from a Joseon queen, Bong-hwan begins turning the royal palace upside down. Mr. Queen is a wildly entertaining historical fantasy that mixes body-swapping comedy, palace intrigue, romance, and political scheming into a story where being queen is complicated enough, even before you add a 21st-century man to the equation.
